January 1, 2024 kicked off one of the most beautiful, memorable years of my life.

Now, I’m 7 months pregnant with our sweet baby boy, living in our new beautiful house. I’m feeling ultra blessed right now. ❤️

Today has been a slow, yet very full day.

We began with morning time using our September Morning Menus, followed by Gentle Grammar and math.

Then, the boys ran free to their eagerly anticipated tree fort project.

Now, Steven and I will meet with our loan officer as we prepare to buy a house! 🏡

While I may be exhausted, I’m also very, very grateful.

After a big move (& some other major life events), here is our 2024-25 homeschool curriculum picks! 🎉

This year, we’ll continue with Ambleside Online (during the first couple of months, we’ll be finishing up the tail end of last year!)

If you’re not familiar with Ambleside Online (AO), it is a free homeschool curriculum that uses Charlotte Mason’s principles to provide a literature-rich, beautiful education for children.

While AO offers years 0-12 so that each child can work in their corresponding year, we opt for family style learning - so my boys complete the same year together. They do, however, use their own levels of grammar, reading and writing.

Our family follows a Charlotte Mason style of learning. Therefore, after reading, my children will orally narrate what they have read/heard. Liam will begin to write his own narrations 2 times per week.

For subjects such as history and science, we will continue to utilize notebooking. We will also regularly update a visual history timeline and blank maps based on what they have read.

We will continue to use Morning Menus & copywork that I’ve created. And nature study will consist of seasonal, child-led observations & journaling.

Two weeks ago, we sold our home of 10 years.

While it felt sudden, it’s been something God has placed on our hearts for quite some time. Recently, we felt that call loud and clear, and blindly followed. We listed our home for sale, and it sold immediately.

For months prior, we worked tirelessly to prepare our home to be listed. We decluttered, made repairs, cleaned, tidied, and packed up our belongings. I feel as if I’ve been going non-stop since May, and am finally able to exhale.

Now that we’re settled in our temporary residence, I’m beginning to feel like I can breathe again. And with this settling, comes a host of postponed emotions.

Today, I felt overwhelming sadness and grief for our homeschool room that was our beautiful learning space for the past 4 years.

The walls of this room witnessed so many magical moments. In those 4 years, I taught two children to read and write, we adventured through the most beautiful stories, built math equations with tiny wooden acorns on ten frames, drew beautiful illustrations in our notebooks, played in wooden castles with our hand painted peg dolls, observed beautiful art, and created our own masterpieces.

What began as a room of shelves and random books, became an intentionally organized space of beautiful educational materials.

I feel the lump in my throat swell as I write this.

Saying goodbye to our family home has been hard. But I know in my soul that the home that awaits us is perfect for our family.
